Woodlands: Introduction

Abstract
Woodlands District is located in the North Region; and the district comprises Woodlands New Town, Kranji Estate, Mandai Estate and Upper Seletar Reservoir.

Woodlands is developed in 1970 as the 4th New Town of Singapore. It is the frontier town next to the Singapore end of the Causeway.

Development of Woodlands is carried out in 3 stages, taking 32 years to be completely developed in 2002 (the longest in town development).

Toponymics
Woodlands was named after the view from Johor as the coastline was full of Kranji trees.
