Abstract
Bedok District is located in the East Region; and the district comprises Bedok New Town, Bedok Estate, Upper Changi (Chai Chee) Estate, Kaki Bukit Estate, Kembangan Estate, Telok Kurau Estate, Siglap Estate and Upper East Coast Estate.

Bedok is developed in 1972 as the 5th New Town of Singapore. It is the most populous district in Singapore.

Toponymics
Bedok is the Malay name for the drum that was used in the pre-loudspeaker days to call worshippers to pray at the mosque.
